Real Democracy protesters in Bristol call for end to European austerity
AROUND 40 people have held a protest against austerity in Europe in the city centre to coincide with strikes across the continent.
Greek and Spanish nationals joined the event - organised by anti cuts umbrella group Real Democracy - warning that the effects of the debt crises in the worst hit countries are spreading to the UK.
Protesters called for an end to EU-led government bank bailouts and international austerity which they claim have left millions unemployed.
Fernando Romeo, 21, from Zaragoza said “periphery” European nations are suffering most but the crisis will begin to affect the UK as more economic migrants are pushed north.
