The National Youth Orchestra offers a national platform for Britain's brightest and best teenage musicians to come together to create performances that astound and inspire musicians and audience alike. A belief in the extraordinary things that young people can achieve is at the heart of everything they do. The orchestra is recruited anew each year and brings together around 165 musicians from all over Great Britain and all under 18.

During the year there are three rehearsal residencies which culminate in public concerts. The venues will include Barbican Hall London, Leeds Town Hall, the Sage Gateshead, The Royal Festival Hall and Royal  Albert Hall, where the prom will be televised. Conductors will include John Wilson, Simone Young and Vasily Petrenko.
