Purple Bankers in Bristol show Triodos Bank is a shade different
Did you spot the 'Purple Bankers' out and about in Bristol city centre today?
The maroon bowler hats were out in force to promote the opening of Triodos Bank's new UK headquarters in the city centre.
Triodos, which describes itself as "a global pioneer of sustainable banking", has had an office in Bristol, on The Promenade in Clifton, since 1995 but recently moved to brand new state-of-the-art eco offices on Deanery Road.
In keeping with the bank's ethos and values, the office has been built to the highest environmental standards using furniture that has been refurbished or built by local craftspeople.

Montpelier artist Alex Lucas was also commissioned to paint a Bristol-inspired mural for the foyer.
Triodos spokesperson William Ferguson explained: "With the Purple Bankers idea we wanted to show people that we're a serious, commercial bank but we approach it in a different way to anyone else.
Mr Fergusen added that Triodos Bank only lends money to companies working for positive social, cultural or environmental change, such as theatres, galleries, renewable energy providers and those in the organic and agriculture sector.
In Bristol, for example, it finances the Soil Association, the Better Food Company on Whiteladies Road and the Children's Scrapstore in St Werburghs.
"A lot of the issues related to the Credit Crunch were down to a lack of transparency in banking sector," added Mr Fergusen.
"We think it's essential that our customers know which other organisations we're financing, and we're the only bank in the UK to publish details of exactly that."

“'Sustainable banking' - that's a laugh. Sustained by its customers, who are being milked to pay for these plush offices and other fripperies. So basically it's just like every other bank, then.”

“I for one certainly would remember these guys and the colour so PR success? Makes me a bit curious to find out about their ethical business practices.”

“Oh, dear, what PR fool thought thought this up?
I would certainly not wear a crash helmet in that colour, let alone a bowler hat.
Cockney Rhyming Slang lovers must be loving these 'Merchants'?”

“To call someone a purple banker is some sort of rhyming slang insult?”
