Youngsters from a Fishponds school have won a competition to create a garden in Bristol Zoo.

Pupils from Chester Park Junior School's gardening club beat stiff competition to win the chance for their entry become a reality on a plot of land at the zoo in Clifton.

They designed a garden using the title the "Edible Garden" as a guide.

Their winning plan includes a host of fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers, as well as a variety of food to be grown for the zoo animals.

Members of the school's gardening club went to the zoo for a planting day to bed-in the first part of their design.

Children from the school were also given a tour of the zoo and £75 worth of gardening vouchers to help with whatever gardening projects they might have.
