Pub wins award for live music
A BRISTOL pub has won acclaim for its live music.
The Coronation Tap in Sion Place, Clifton, has won the title Best Live Music Pub 2011 in the West Country in The Great British Pub Awards.
It beat the challenge of numerous pubs across the region to claim the title.
The awards, organised by pub industry magazine the Publican's Morning Advertiser, are recognised as the Oscars of the pub world.
Independent judges visited all the competing pubs, with The Coronation Tap coming out on top.
Editor Paul Charity said: "The award recognises the pub that has used a varied range of live music as the core of its business success and development.
"The Coronation Tap has a fantastic offer for its customers and is a worthy winner."
The pub is run by licensees Jan and Mick Gale.
It will go forward to the Great British Pub Awards final, held in London on September 8, hosted by Rory Bremner.
It will go head-to-head with five other regional winners for the UK title Best Live Music Pub 2011 and also have the opportunity to compete for the overall title of Great British Pub of the Year.
