A PUB in Bristol is asking families to get creative by designing their own Guy Fawkes for an explosive Halloween festivity in the city.

The Ship Inn, in Alveston, is renowned for its charitable efforts and activities involving the local community.

It has run several events throughout the year and is now lending its support to a Halloween fireworks display with Coates Fireworks in aid of Charities Hope For Tomorrow, a mobile chemotherapy unit from Tetbury.

Families across the city are being asked to help the FREE event at Thornbury Cricket Club, Thornbury Road, on Saturday October 27, by designing a homemade Guy.

All entries will be displayed in a Guy Fawkes parade at 6.30pm and the winning Guy will take pride position at the Roundtable Bonfire Night at Mundy Playing Fields, on November 3.

Landlady Donna Telford, 47, said: "We are always running events and fundraisers to involve the community and thought we could encourage youngsters to get creative.

"We are looking for our regulars and the entire community to make a Guy Fawkes to parade at the free Halloween fireworks show, where there will be a collection for Charities Hope For Tomorrow, a mobile chemotherapy unit.

"The winning family will see their Guy take pride position on the bonfire at Roundtable Bonfire Night and I will also award the winning family with a trophy and Sunday carvery to thank them for their efforts."

The Halloween event will include a "Haunted Mansion" fireworks display with special effects, flames and fireworks, bar, BBQ, and raffle to win £250.00 worth of fireworks.

The Tudor Coaching Inn in Thornbury Road is set to continue its community and fundraising initiatives with its annual Christmas Toy Appeal launching shortly.
