It's a far cry from running a snow-covered track in Switzerland to racing on turf at Bath but the versatile Princess Rose Ann successfully bridged the gap, after winning the freebets.co.uk Fillies Stakes on going described by jockey Steve Drowne as "beautiful".

Philip Robinson led inside the final furlong on Towy Valley from the Hungerford stable of Bristol-born Clive Cox but faded to fourth as Drowne swept past to beat Just Joey by a head, with Berrymead third under Ann Stokell, who also trains the filly at Richmond.

"She won a listed race over four furlongs at St Moritz so has black type but seems to act on any going," said John Best's assistant Colin Bristow.

Warwickshire trainer George Baker saddled his first two-year-old winner of the campaign when Chicita Banana scored by a length in the EBF freebets.co.uk Maiden Fillies Stakes.

Tony Culhane came out on top in a ding-dong battle in the closing stages with Alan Munro riding True Red for the Cullompton team of Rod Millman with Avonvalley an eye-catching third for Wells handler Malcolm Saunders.

After being placed in three all-weather races, Onemix made a winning debut on grass in the one mile two furlong freebets.co.uk Fillies Stakes, partnered by Michael Hills for the Lambourn yard of his father Barry.

Elna Bright provided a welcome tonic in the freebets.co.uk Condition Stakes for David Evans.

The four-year-old won by a length under Dane O'Neill, carrying the colours of retired businessman David Mort, who said that Elna Bright will run again at Windsor on Monday.

Evans struck again when Carcivetto, under Richard Evans, hung on to beat Mick Channon's Arctic Licence, ridden by Culhane in the freebets.co.uk Handicap.

Tom McLaughlan came with a well-timed run to land the five-furlong freebets.co.uk Stakes on Captain Carey, owned and trained by Malcolm Saunders on the Mendips, with Weston-super-Mare jockey Richard Kingscote the runner-up on Newmarket raider Billy Beetroot, for Stuart Williams.
