A BRISTOL seven-year-old has seen her design for a hand-painted life-sized lion go on display in a charity exhibition.

Ilham Mohamed, a Year 2 pupil from Hannah More Primary School won a children's design contest for the project, which is sponsored by the business advisory firm Deloitte.

Her entry, Bloom, inspired by springtime, was painted on to one of the Lions of Bath, which are on show in the Georgian city all summer, by artist Julia Trickey.

It is now outside Bath's Royal Crescent Hotel alongside another lion designed by Sarah Grace, who works in Deloitte's tax department in Bristol and won the adult competition.

A video of Sarah painting her Earth Lion, which features a striking sun head and trees for legs, can be viewed on Youtube by searching 'Lions of Bath 2010'.

In total, the Lions of Bath project involves 100 individually decorated lion sculptures, installed in various locations in and around Bath from the end of May until September to raise funds for local charities.
