A kite-making workshop takes place this weekend at Cabot Circus in the build-up to a Bristol festival next month.

The Bristol International Festival of Kites & Air Creations will be held on September 12 and 13 at Ashton Court.

The workshops, run by Avon Kite Flyers, will give families the opportunity to make their own kite for free.

There will also be some colourful kites on display and more information available about the programme of events taking place during the festival.

The children's workshops run between 11am and 3pm.

During the festival weekend, Avon Kite Flyers will be running the same workshops, making around 1,500 kites, with donations to nominated charity Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The festival arena programme runs on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13 from 11am to 5pm.

It features flying displays, aerial battles, breathtaking choreographed routines and awesome power kites.

There are also colourful examples of kites, trains, banners and inflatables of all shapes and sizes.

Play structures, children's attractions, selected specialist kite traders, a licensed bar and an array of appetising food and drink will also be available.

Entry on foot is free and parking is £7 per car.

Avril Baker, festival organiser said: "We are delighted to have been invited to come along to Cabot Circus to promote the kite festival.

"This is a great opportunity to give a taste of what is to come over our festival weekend and to entertain some of the families whilst they visit all the shops and attractions on offer."
