Only eight ounces separated the top three places in the Kingswood Disabled & Over 55s match fished at Rushcombe Lake, Kingston Seymour.

Saints members took the top two places and it was Pete Powe who scraped home by just 7oz from Tom Bailey with a 17-4-0 catch of small carp and goldfish.

Powe poled pellet to the far bank at 10.5 metres off peg 22, while Bailey fished the same method with maggot at peg four to tempt a similar catch weighing 16-13-0.

Dave Cooper was third with 16-12-0 of the same taken from peg 23 with single red maggot fished tight to his near lakeside margins.

● The River Avon at Freshford was in good form and the top three anglers all hit the 20lb mark in Ridgeway & District AC's last river match of the season.

The top weight was taken by Brian Paull at peg five where feeder tactics and red maggot tempted 25-12-0 of bream to 5lb.

Second-placed Merv Brown caught 21-12-0 of bream and chub on feeder fished maggot at peg seven, while at peg 12 it was three bream and 10lb of roach that made up a 20-3-0 third place for Phil Groves.

● Chris Szakacs ran in a comfortable 35lb clear of his nearest challenger in the Fry's AC match, fished at Withy Pool, Hunstrete.

He poled pellet shallow at 13 metres off peg 53 and weighed-in an 18-carp catch totalling 85-1-0.
