THIS photograph, right, taken in the 1920s, shows my grandfather and a customer in front of 113 Two Mile Hill, a fish and chip takeaway and dining room.

For displaying the poster showing the Bristol Hippodrome programme my grandparents received two free tickets to the Monday matinee.

When we were old enough in the early 1930s (more likely to have been late 1920s) my grandmother took my brother one Monday and myself the next.

I remember being there and the plush seats but nothing about the show.

We must have travelled by tram to what was then called The Bristol Tramways Centre.

In later years, I saw many shows. The most memorable was Les Miserables – the only show I saw a second time.
