This is a man that police in Portishead want to speak to in connection with a robbery at a convenience store in the town.

The incident happened on October 10 at just before 9pm when a man with a scarf over his face went into the Whitecott Stores at St Peter's Road and shouted at shop staff to hand over cash from the till.

The robber, who made off with £40, fled in the direction of the town's High Street.

Police have now released CCTV footage of the man and want anyone who recognises him to contact them.

He is described as 6ft 2ins tall, in his late teens or early twenties and thin.

He had short, black hair and was wearing a black jacket with a white stripe or logo on the left arm.

He was also wearing jeans with a designer rip in them, white trainers, black gloves and had a powder blue scarf wrapped around his face.

Portishead police sergeant Terry Scoble said: "This is an unusual crime for Portishead which left the shop staff traumatised.

"We are very keen to enlist the help of the public to identify the person responsible."

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Portishead Police on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
