This is Bristol

I would like to respond to the Evening Post front page article "Missing Link".

While the new road is planned, did not the planners think of running the link road side by side of the railway line on the south elevation? Surely this will cause minimum disruption to all, being more sympathetic to the landscape?

Personally, I am in no way in favour of disturbing any green belt land. Leave the green spaces alone.

This road has been left for decades, to the detriment of the people of Bristol, who have been thoroughly disrupted over the years, leading to a drop in quality of life.

We in England are the third most densely populated country in the world. We don't need any more mass developments anywhere.

Only one group will benefit from all this – the speculators, financiers, land bankers...all rubbing their hands.

Enough is enough, with resources running low, environmental issues and pollution. On one hand we are being told to cut back, being taxed left, right and centre; on the other hand, hypocrisy jumps to mind, disruption to locals, a drop in our quality of life, creating even more issues. This madness has to stop.

We don't need to develop our open spaces – no need for thousands of houses all over the fields of Ashton and Yanley, concrete jungle. The locals say no! Meanwhile, build on the brown sites.

If we had manufacturing and industry progressing, which has always been at the front of our way of life, we would not be in this mess we are in today. We would be self-sufficient and thriving, without the loss of quality and disruption.

To build thousands of houses as an industry is ridiculous, creating ghettos and slums for the future. This will lead to more overcrowding and more frustration for the people.

The politicians need to rethink. They haven't thought it out properly and are not listening to the people of South Bristol. Time for change.
