Police are warning people to be vigilant after 79 burglaries and attempted burglaries were reported in Hartcliffe, Headley Park, Southville and Windmill Hill in just one month.

Neighbourhood policing teams have increased patrols in the affected areas and Neighbourhood Watch groups have been made aware of the problem. Police said the incidents took place at all times.

Two men have been arrested in connection with at least one of the south Bristol raids but police are advising residents to take basic security measures to avoid becoming victims of crime.
