Police target rogue traders
THREE people from Bristol, including a teenager, were among eight arrested when 200 vehicles were stopped during an operation targeting rogue traders.
The day of action carried out by Gloucestershire police was part of Operation Montana and involved the use of automatic number plate recognition technology as well as stop-checks at roadblocks.
Trading standards officers, the Environment Agency and the Vehicle Operator Services Agency also helped with the operation, aimed at cutting the number of distraction burglaries that target vulnerable people.
A 15-year-old boy and two men aged 21 and 25, all from Bristol, were arrested on suspicion of fraud at a checkpoint on the A38 at Newport, near Berkeley.
They have been bailed to return to Stroud police station on July 3.
Operation Montana has been running for 18 months.
