Police need to do what they're paid for
Could someone please explain why we have and indeed contribute to, through taxes, a police force and laws in this country?
Because I see absolutely no evidence of just how it is any law-abiding citizens living here are afforded any kind of protection from those that commit any form of crime.
Is it perhaps because the latter is so far greater than the former, that basically it's more cost effective and resourceful these days to just arrest and convict those that are so fed up with waiting for action to be taken, that they end up becoming criminals themselves by taking the law into their own hands?
If this is the case, then it's about time the tables were turned and balance restored. If not, then why is it that the media is filled to overflowing daily with not just crimes being committed, but the pathetic, reasons given as to why such crimes are allowed to be constantly committed?
Surprise, surprise, there always seems to be some legal loophole out there that allows all kinds of perpetrators to get away with doing what the heck they like.
But, there always also seems to be a way with the otherwise law-abiding citizens getting criminal records and serving jail sentences, because those that should be protecting us are the ones that are 'tipping people over the edge'.
Which is in the least, a very disturbing position for most of us to find ourselves to be living in.
Unfortunately, we must wait for someone in Government to be appointed to radically review this situation and chuck most of our laws out as being notwithstanding and streamlines the situation to the effect that criminals have no human rights whatsoever, by bringing in a law to state that by committing any form of crime, regardless of how petty, that they have in fact waivered their human rights in their entirety.
That way the only protection afforded, will be to that of those who have crimes committed against them and their property and not those committing the crimes.
Only then will terms like 'illegal' actually mean the same as it's description of 'against the law'.
Which I also always thought meant something the police have the power to act upon. Obviously not. Because otherwise, how come the police are no longer able to enforce the law(s) we have in this country and evict 'illegally' camping gipsies?
Being unable to take action because something is privately owned, is nothing more than an excuse not to do anything about it. If something is being committed illegally, then it should matter not whether it's being committed within the confines of something privately owned.
Just by the fact that it's illegal should be all that's needed for immediate action to be taken. I'm fed-up with the police not taking action against criminals by using the 'get out clause' of, 'it's a council matter' and then the council's response of, 'it's a police matter'.
Quite frankly, I don't give a damn who deals with what. But deal with it and let's see justices being done.
Time for change in this country? You bet!

“i think our police would be more inclined to arrest more criminals if they had the full support of the courts and justice system, offenders have too many do gooders defending them and making excuses for what they have done ,most of the crimes commited aredrug related ,but they treat the symptoms and not the cause, there is no punishments to fit the crimes ,instead of going down the line of endless fines that they know drug users arent going to pay , then probation , then community service and finally a prison sentance that is cut in half by good behaviour , if their behaviour was good they wouldnt be in prison in the first place,i think they should have set punishments for each crime ,so when they commit the crimes they know what they are heading for , drug users may be given the oppurtunity of treatment but there is no consistentcy in the treatment or follow up ,sentances and punishments also seem to depend on which judge they have and so one offender may get a prison sentance while the next day and a different judge another offender will get a slap on the wrist for the same offence , no wonder the police think twice about making arrests is all the paper work they have to do worth the effort when they see the offender the next day as good as laughing at them for their efforts”
