Police join Bristol residents for tidying up patrol
Horfield residents spent yesterday tidying up as part of an attempt to win a cleanliness award.
As part of a scheme to encourage recycling, residents, workers from Safer Bristol, Bristol City Council (BCC) waste services and the police teamed up to collect plastic waste.

The action day forms part of an application for a Keep Britain Tidy Neighbourhood Quality Mark Award, a benchmark in green and safe living. Should Upper Horfield be successful, it will be the first area in Bristol and among the top 10 places in the country to be singled out for its work.
Scott Jacobs-Lange, from BCC, organised the day. He said: "Like a lot of areas we are trying to advise people how to recycle plastic and we have residents who are 'waste doctors' who have been giving out information."
Sue White, who lives in Shelley Way, was one of the waste doctors. She said: "I take part in these days because Horfield can get really messy and look awful, and so we tidy the area up."
Keep Britain Tidy will inspect the area over the next few weeks.
