A police car has crashed into a wall outside the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) following a road accident.

Police have confirmed that the vehicle was responding to an emergency call involving a vulnerable woman who was threatening to commit suicide.

The police car,  which was dealing with the incident as a high priority blue light response, was passing stationary vehicles in Upper Maudlin Street, when it was in a "slow speed impact" with a Land Rover Freelander turning into the entrance of the BRI.

The police car then crashed into a low wall surrounding flower beds at around 1.10pm today.

The occupants of the police car and the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.

The police officers will automatically be suspended from driver duties while the incident is investigated.

Police have confirmed that the vulnerable missing person was found safe and well.

“makes you wonder just how slow the police car was driving and also if it was really that slow how on earth did they hit a vehicle AND a wall?”

“if that's slow speed crashing then I'm glad I wasn't there at the time. Given how busy that crossing is, it's amazing no ped's were injured - and has anyone else noticed that when you cross the BRI entrance there as a pedestrian (where the ambulances and taxis zoom out of), there is actually no way of knowing when it's safe to do so. Good way for the BRI to drum up trade, without sending anything more hi-tech than a bed on wheels.”

“Careful now - you might get reported. Shortly after which an already somewhat disjointed "conversation" (they're rather one-way, usually) becomes even less comprehensible, when only half the "conversation" remains. And it may not be the half you bargained for..”

“Have you not seen the inane comments from Troll-Patrol, for instance, the person who constantly quotes "George", whoever that is?”

“LeoJSmith, You have been reported for this consistent abuse, which is against the EP forum rules which have been highlighted. Your homophobic abuse is also ILLEGAL as it amounts to publication of abuse of homosexuality. It is frankly vile.”
