The fire was discovered by a patrolling PCSO who alerted the Avon Fire and Rescue Service at about 9.30pm.
By the time fire crews arrived they could only contain the blaze and let it burn out, leaving the B4465 closed while they worked. Investigators have ruled out an electrical fault as the cause of the fire and have found no evidence that a flammable accelerant was used.
