Police put on show for Bristol pensioners
Hundreds of pensioners living in Filton and Patchway enjoyed a day out at a show – and learned how to stay safe in their homes – thanks to their neighbourhood police team.
Officers organised for the Solomon Theatre Company to perform the musical Trickster at Filton Folk Centre, Elm Park, on September 30.
As well as enjoying the performance, people were able to seek advice from Bristol Water and British Gas, which run password schemes to help householders check callers are genuine.
The police neighbourhood, burglary and crime prevention teams were also at the event, along with Merlin Housing Society and Help the Aged.
Funding was provided by the John James Bristol Foundation, South Gloucestershire police, Filton and Patchway town councils, Merlin Housing and Safer South Gloucestershire.
Filton neighbourhood police community support officer Sheryl Drewitt said: "This was a free event aimed at giving older and more vulnerable people in our community an enjoyable day out but at the same time passing on some important information to help them stay safe.
"We know doorstep criminals call on older people in order to con them out of cash or to steal."
