Views are being sought on plans to create a cycle link between Muller Road and Constable Road in Horfield.

Bristol City Council is building a cycle route from the city centre to the north of the city as part of its £22.8-million Cycling City project.

Work to build a path between St Werburgh’s and Muller Road has begun and the council has drawn up proposals for the route from Muller Road, through Petherbridge Way, along Dovercourt Road and into Constable Road.

The plans will be presented to residents at a consultation event at Jack Knight House in Dovercourt Road, Horfield, on April 27 between 11am and 7pm.

“I think BCC need to look at the examples of some of the larger European cities. Take Luxembourg: they have cheap automated bike hire on nearly every corner; cycle lanes which actually go further than 10 metres and 'Shared Zones' which actually work because cyclists and pedestrians have been taught to respect each other. The current view seems to be that the way to encourage cycling is to make driving harder, by installing more and more traffic lights and traffic calming devices. Just look at what they have done to Prince Street Bridge.”

“Another waste of cycle city money. Like the St Werburgh¿s and Muller Road link it already existed before hand. BCC is obessed with big money schemes that don't really benefit anyone.”
