DAVID Pipe has pledged to run until he drops if it helps Bristol Rovers continue their upturn in results, writes Chris Swift.

The winger has again been operating at right-back in recent games in place of the injured Ryan Green.

And Pipe says the change in formation coach Paul Trollope has employed recently puts the onus on him and left-back Aaron Lescott to get forward.

"With both me and Aaron having a lot of energy, it allows us to bomb on," said Pipe.

"I think playing that way has probably taken a couple of years off my career with the running I'm doing!

"But Trolls likes me to get forward and I'll keep running until I can't run any more."

The decision to employ Stuart Campbell just in front of the back four has helped the Pirates take seven points from their last three games, conceding only once in the process.

"Stuart is a very good link man between our midfield and back four," said Pipe. "Sometimes it might look a bit negative but if we are not conceding goals, then we are always going to have a chance because we can create things at the other end.

"I personally feel much happier going out on the pitch than I did when we were having our bad spell and I think the rest of the team do too.

"The lads have rallied around each other, our bad spell seems to be gone and we are not conceding many goals."

Despite going four games unbeaten, Rovers have nevertheless been behind in eight of the 11 league games they have played so far. Their 2-1 weekend victory against Orient at the Memorial Stadium once more saw them faced with the task of overturning a deficit.

"Sometimes winning feels better when you come back from behind – but we don't want to make a habit of it," admitted Pipe.

"Again on Saturday though we dug in, showed a good spirit and fought back to take the three points in the end. We stayed strong and defended well when a lot of balls came into our box over the final five or 10 minutes.

"We struggled a bit at home last season but now hopefully we can go on a good run at our own ground as well as picking up decent results away."

Rovers should know more today about the extent of central defender Danny Coles' knee injury after he underwent a scan yesterday.

He was forced off in the Orient game shortly after netting the equaliser, having earlier conceded an own goal.
