Clevedon's Danny Perrett has found his true form in the closing weeks of the season.

He finished in a leading position on the Jamega tour for the third tournament in succession at Caversham Heath.

Rounds of 71 and 75, for a level-par 146, brought a share of second place worth £800. He lost by one shot and was left to rue dropped shots at the 16th and 17th in the second round.

Paul Reed (Bristol & Clifton) carded three-over-par to take sixth place and £400.

GIUSEPPE Licata, the Hambrook Golf Centre teaching professional, won his first West Region PGA pro-am with a flawless, six-under-par 64 at West Wilts.

He did just enough to beat former European Tour player Andrew Sherborne (Kendleshire) by one shot and earn £717.

He started with a birdie at the short opening hole and added another at the sixth to be out in 32. Further birdies followed at 10, 11, 16 and 17.

Licata, 24, whose family come from Sicily, has been improving steadily in recent months.

His most notable success was winning the West Region Qualifier for the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship at Burnham & Berrow last year.

ANDREW Sherborne and Neil Holman, the former Somerset player from Worlebury who is now a teaching professional at Torbay, shared top place in the Lansdown pro-am.

Sherborne survived a double-bogey on the par five ninth when he drove out of bounds and also dropped a shot at the 467-yard par four final hole. But he picked up shots at the first, fourth and seventh holes and made an eagle at the 527-yard 13th.

PGA Seniors champion George Ryall came close to snatching a dramatic win but dropped three shots in the final four holes.

"The light was closing in which made it difficult for me to read the line of the putts," he said.
