Dave Payne has urged Brislington Reserves to maintain the attributes that have swept them to the brink of the Premier Division summit.

Second-placed Bris entertain Taunton Blackbrook tomorrow, eager to stoke up the heat on pace-setting Cheddar.

Payne, whose team have won six of their seven opening fixtures, enthused: "It's been a great start. I knew we had a decent side, although we've been fortunate at times."

Brislington's squad includes midfielder Sullivan Gardner, who has moved to the area from Cornwall.

New Shirehampton supremo Mickey Tanner is "loving every minute" of steering his side safely through a testing period. After a winless first four games under his tenure, Shire have won three on the spin, without conceding a goal.

"Having our skipper and centre-half Andrew Gibson available again is a big plus and just getting a first win triggered off everyone's confidence," said Tanner, whose team travel to St George EIG.

Mangotsfield Reserves take an unchanged squad to Frome, while Nailsea United travel to Watchet with keeper Luke Davies and midfielder Matt Vickerman joining the lengthening list of casualties.

Centre-half Luke Hardcastle returns to central defensive duties. Backwell United, who had been in hot form until Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Watchet, have the chance to bounce back at home to fellow high-fliers Bridgwater.

Cutters Friday entertain Paulton Reserves.

In Division One, leaders Stockwood Green Robinsons entertain Clevedon United, while Fry Club and visiting Saltford clash and Keynsham Reserves host Odd Down.
