Paulton set to find out if dream cup tie will be televised
Paulton Rovers were due to find out today whether their dream FA Cup first round tie against Norwich City will be televised.
An FA party were inspecting Rovers' Winterfield Road home to assess how suitable the venue was to stage the first round clash against the three-times semi-finalists.
The game has already been pencilled in to be one of ITV's two televised matches on the weekend of November 7 and 8 and early indications are that it will fill the Saturday lunchtime slot with a 12.30pm kick off.
That is expected to be officially confirmed in the coming days if the FA and ITV are happy to give the go-ahead following their inspection of the facilities.
Rovers are determined to get the tie played at Winterfield Road – where club officials believe they can accommodate close to 3,000 spectators – and would be willing to bring in temporary stands in an attempt to make sure that the game is not switched to a local league ground.
"We will be meeting with the FA and various other bodies when they come down to have a look around the ground on Tuesday," chairman David Bissex confirmed last night.
"We are confident that we will be given the go-ahead to get the game on at Winterfield Road as we believe we could house around 3,000 supporters in the venue.
"We would look at installing some temporary stands if needs be, but we first want to see what the FA has to say after they have had a look around."
Paulton would make close to £100,000 if they are confirmed as one of the two FA Cup matches to be televised over that weekend and Bissex added: "It is an amazing amount of money for a club of our size. It is a dream draw for us; the biggest game in the club's history.
"It is going to be a busy couple of weeks for us but we are all going to make sure that it will be a fantastic day for everyone involved."
