Paulton Rovers went on a goalscoring spree as they completely outplayed Hungerford Town for a victory which takes them into second place in Division One South & West of the Zamaretto Southern League, 16 points behind leaders Windsor & Eton.

Paulton took charge from the start, with Hungerford goalkeeper James Foster making a brilliant save to keep out defender Lee Marshall's header.

The visitors deservedly went in front in the 19th minute when Ben Lacey's cross into the penalty area was flicked on by striker Matt Cooper to Charlie Rich, whose well-struck volley gave Foster no chance.

Paulton added a second on 34 minutes. A Rich free-kick was met by Cooper, whose header found Joe White. The striker passed to defender Alex Ball, who gave Foster no chance.

Hungerford pulled one back on the stroke of half-time when a Kevin Halliday cross created the opening for Jamie Green to score.

Despite having the advantage of the slope in the second half, Hungerford never seriously troubled the Paulton defence, and the visitors added a third goal after 75 minutes when Cooper crossed for substitute Robbie Claridge to score.

Cooper added a fourth when he netted at the far post in the 83rd minute, and in the final minute substitute Phil Waters crossed into the penalty area, where Rich's volley struck Cooper, deflecting off him and wrong-footing Foster.
