Abingdon United 0 Paulton Rovers 1: Paulton Rovers go into tonight's local derby at Winterfield Road against Mangotsfield United full of confidence after a sound performance gave them a deserved victory at Abingdon United.

Manager Andy Jones will be boosted by the return of striker Robbie Claridge to the Paulton squad after missing the opening three games due to suspension carried over from last season.

Paulton took the lead in the sixth minute, when Chris Lane gave Jon Beames no chance from the penalty spot.

Abingdon went close to equalising just before the interval when Pablo Haysham's long-range shot rattled the crossbar.

The home side spurned another great chance in the opening minutes of the second half when a cross into the area found the unmarked Anaclet Odhiambo, whose weak shot from six yards was easily saved by Steve Perrin. And it was Perrin who helped Rovers hold on to the three points with a series of fine saves.
