Paulton Rovers paid the penalty for not taking their chances as Toolstation Premier Division Frome Town won the Somerset Cup at Welton Rovers.

Paulton Rovers took an 11th-minute lead when Josh Jefferies found Robbie Claridge, who touched the ball on to Chris Lane whose first-time 25-yard volley gave Frome keeper Richard Fey no chance.

A minute later skipper Ben Cleverley's through ball put Lane clear, but his shot just cleared the crossbar. Lane's cross then found the unmarked Jefferies, whose shot was blocked by Fey.

Frome came out fired up for the second half and they equalised when Jamie Cheesman's header from a corner beat goalkeeper Courtney Redwood.

Three minutes later they were in front as Alex Lapham's free-kick beat Redwood.

Lane saw another shot blocked by Fey before Paulton were reduced to 10 men when Robbie Claridge was dismissed .

Frome made sure of victory when Simeon Allison fired home at the far post.
