Paulton Rovers 3 AFC Hayes 1

Paulton's second victory in four days took them into fifth spot in the South & West Division of the Southern League.

Manager Andy Jones set his sights on promotion at the start of the season and, now Rovers are out of all cup competitions, they can concentrate on that ambition.

Despite playing into a strong wind and driving rain in the first half, they dominated the game and took a two-goal lead within 15 minutes, both strikes coming from striker Robbie Claridge.

Josh Jeffries had an early goal-bound header from an Alex Ball cross blocked by a defender before Paulton went in front after five minutes from the penalty spot after Claridge released Ben Lacey and he was brought down as he cut into the area. Claridge score from the spot.

The striker made it 2-0 from 15 yards after Matt Cooper beat his marker to get to the goalline and cross.

Craig Tompkins pulled a goal back for Hayes, but Paulton continued to dominate and Cooper made it 3-1 after 67 minutes.
