Pat Murphy saddled his first winner at Chepstow since Supreme Glory's success in the 2001 Welsh National when Maktu landed the Roly Webber Memorial Hurdle.

Swindon jockey Wayne Hutchinson came with a well-timed run on Maktu, which is owned by George and Marilyn Palmer of Abbots Leigh near Bristol.

The Tizzard family, from Sherborne, had good cause to celebrate after Amble Forge's impressive victory in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Novices Chase.

The six-year-old is trained by Colin Tizzard, from Dorset. His brother Robert owns the horse and it was confidently ridden by his son Joe, who had seven lengths to spare at the post.

The Tizzards struck again in Division I of the digibet.co.uk NH Flat Race when Colin and Joe teamed up with Sergeant Harper, who was a two-and-a-half-length winner from Anthony Honeyball's Cherry Flora.

Owners Alan Marsh and John Duggan flew over from Ireland to support Bensalem in the Weatherbys Bank Novices Hurdle and were not disappointed when the favourite scored impressively.

Bensalem took time to recover from a mistake on the second circuit but ran on the inside during the final furlong to beat King Of Atlantis by two-and-three-quarter lengths, with King Fontaine a promising third for Nicholls.

Thursday's Night was set to start favourite for the KPMG Selling Hurdle but was injured in the parade ring before the race and was withdrawn. Quantock Venture was also pulled out, because of unruly behaviour, leaving only seven runners in the line-up.

Fade To Grey parted company with Keith Mercer at the last hurdle and brought down Java Market to gift the race to L'Eau Du Nil, left 14 lengths clear by the collision.

The seven-year-old had tried to run out on the first bend but later responded to the prompting of Christian Williams, who thought his mount would have beaten Fade To Grey without the fall.
