The Willow Brook Centre in Bradley Stoke will celebrate its first year of trading with a party at the shopping complex.

Phase two of the development was completed in October 2008, with its Tesco Extra anchor store the biggest in the company's regional chain.

Smaller shops were also open and since then new additions have included Specsavers, Giant bikes, Brantano and Pets at Home.

Managers have invited local residents and other shoppers to the centre on Saturday between 11am and 4pm, where free goody bags and birthday cake will be given away and children can have their faces painted.

Centre manager Scott Lahive said of the party: "In tough economic times, we want to give something back and celebrate with everyone who has supported the centre in its first year.

"We will continue to provide high levels of service to keep shoppers coming back next year."
