STUDENTS at a Backwell school learnt about the important job of being a paramedic in a class project.

A team from Great Western Ambulance Service visited students at Fairfield School to talk to them about medical emergency crews.

The pupils, working on a project called People who help us, were also shown around the ambulance.

The crew also told students how first aid is delivered by ambulance crews in a variety of situations.

Class teacher, Sheila Thoy, said "It was a super visit. The children learned how the human body works and also about the important work that ambulance crews carry out.

"They particularly enjoyed looking inside an ambulance."

The visit finished on a noisy note with the ambulance's sirens and lights going off in the playground.
