Pannell's all-round effort guides Keynsham to victory
Richard Pannell starred with bat and then ball as Keynsham bounced back from an opening-day defeat to beat Taunton Deane by six runs in Premier Two.
The No 6 batsman came to the crease with his side struggling on 76-4 but hit 78 from 96 balls to take Keynsham to 201-8. They finished on 210-8.
Pannell then destroyed Deane with 6-43. Keith Ford scored 49 but Deane were all out for 204.
Former Almondsbury captain Greg Stephens took 5-44 as Thornbury made it two wins from two matches, getting the better of Trowbridge by 51 runs.
Kaniska cracked 78 and was well supported by fellow opener Chris Dent (38) in Thornbury's 227-8.
Stephens then finished off the lower order with the Wiltshire side forced to settle for 176-9.
Bristol West Indians beat Chippenham by six wickets with James Pearson and Ashur Morrison both hitting half-centuries as the Windies made a successful run chase.
Chippenham were 157 all out with Jerome Burton taking 4-40. Ryan Higgins top-scored with 35.
In reply, Pearson and Morrison both scored 52 in the Windies' 159-4.
Cheltenham (213-7) won by three wickets against Ilminster (212), while Henry Carpenter took 5-40 in Taunton's six-wicket victory against Warminster.
In Premier One, former Gloucestershire all-rounder Mark Hardinges posted a reminder to County Ground supremo John Bracewell as Frocester thrashed Glastonbury by 129 runs. Hardinges, who was released by the Glo'sters last summer, hit 126 from 72 balls, including 14 fours and seven sixes.
Nick Trainor and Tom Ward weighed in with 80 and 65 respectively as Frocester made 322-3.
Hardinges then took 1-18 off seven overs as Glastonbury replied with 193. Josh Beal (60 not out) offered some resistance but could not prevent his side losing heavily.
Reigning champions Bath lost by 96 runs to Taunton St Andrews. Keith Parson's 70 not out guided Taunton to 196-8.
Openers James Campbell (24) and Peter McGlashen (34) made good starts but Bath collapsed to 100, with Lloyd Alley and Kevin Parsons taking 4-29 and 3-25 respectively.
Weston-super-Mare have claimed two wins from as many matches after beating Bridgwater by seven wickets.
Bridgwater scored 290-5 with Michael Coles hitting 163 off 156 balls, including 17 fours and eight sixes.
He also put on 170 for the fourth wicket with Steve Davis (68 off 52 balls). Robin D'Souza claimed 4-78.
Replying at almost a run a ball, Weston were successful in their run chase and finished on 294-3 with only four balls left.
Their top order batsmen – Edd Brown (80 off 102 balls), Rob Holman (92 off 93 balls), Gary Morgan (51 not out off 53 balls) and John Williams (32 off 37 balls) – secured the win.
In the battle of the two sides promoted from Premier Two last summer, Bristol claimed a winning draw against Knowle.
Openers Mark Hopkinson (46) and Will Tavare (63) set Bristol on their way to 223-8.
Knowle hung on at 155-9 from their 55 overs with skipper Steve Milton top-scoring with 31. Former Gloucestershire bowler Will Rudge took 4-22.
Corsham, for whom Steve Bullen (100 not out), Peter Turner (69) and Sam Collier (47) made telling contributions, claimed a winning draw against Downend.
Chasing 288-5, Downend finished their innings on 206-7, with Ben Pearce (58) their leading run-scorer.
