A GOLDEN goal by Isabel Palmer, from a penalty stroke, gave Clifton Ladies a 4-3 victory against Slough in the EHA Cup.

The Premier Division sides were level at full-time after Fleur Horner, Dawn Mitchell and Carys Hopkins had scored for Clifton, who will be at home to St Neots in the fourth round on November 16.

On Saturday, Clifton visit Poynton for their next Slazenger EHA Premier Division match.

Firebrand's men were also victorious in their cup match against Spencer, as they defeated their London-based opponents 5-1.

The home side's goals were scored by Tim Lang (2), Dan Nicoll, Grant Armstrong and Marc Patrick. Firebrands travel to Reading in the fourth round on November 23.

This Sunday, Firebrands face University of Exeter at Failand (1pm) in their next National Conference West fixture.

Firebrands Ladies were beaten 5-1 at Birmingham University. Eli Springett scored on her debut for Firebrands, who have a league game at St Austell on Saturday.

In West Women's Premier I, struggling Redland lost 3-0 to Gloucester City.

In other divisions, goals from Sarah Robbins and Rosie Poustie gave Redland III a 2-1 win over Westberries, while goals from Zoe Barnett, Gill Bailey and Lizzie McManaman gave Thornbury a 3-1 win over Knowle.

Ali Howard and Nicki Mead scored for Hanham in a 2-1 win against BAC.

In Central Division, Old Bristolians drew 2-2 with Yeovil thanks to goals from Vicki Clarke and Sam Cotterell.

In N.4 Financial Solutions Men's Premier I, Westbury/Utd Banks drew 2-2 with Robinsons. James Goodman scored both goals for Westbury.
