I WAS in Bristol in September and visited the Roman Baths at Bath. Fascinating.

Some Christians frown upon the Romans' worship of their 'pagan' gods but it gave their society purpose, strength and the determination to defend their territories and lifestyle with tenacity.

Christianity, with its emphasis on compassion and pacifism is not always applied rigorously because as with all religions there are different ways of interpreting how we should behave in order to adhere to the 'core values'.

The end-of-the-world-is-imminent brigade also cause people to shun Christian opinions. Life is for living and no one knows what tomorrow may bring. In a dangerous and unpredictable world we should always seek the peace option, but not everyone adheres to such values.
