A zoo farm has welcomed its latest arrivals – two magestic Bengal tigers.

Kushkja and Tira, both six, arrived at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm in Wraxall this week and will be living in a new £200,000 enclosure.

And despite only just arriving, the patter of tiny feet could soon be heard as Tira is pregnant and expected to give birth in the next few weeks.

The tigers, which weigh around 200 kilogrammes each, travelled to the zoo farm on Tuesday and come from a private collection in the east of England. Their new home is a one-acre tiger territory which includes four fields, five dens in an indoor enclosure and four outside dens.

Visitors to the centre will be able to get just a few inches away from the stripy pair.

There are specially made wooden beds, complete with a mattress of straw, for them to sleep on.

The tiger dens are unique in that the animals have to pass through the keeper area in tunnels to reach their outdoor enclosure. This ensures minimum stress for the animals as they can be secured in the tunnels should they need medical attention.
