Pacesetters Ashton overpower Rovers
Hanham Minor League Under-11s: Ashton Boys A Under-11s ran out 3-0 winners in their top-of-the-table Division B clash with Bristol Rovers JSC.
The leaders took the lead when Ryan-Lee Williams finished a strong run with a cool finish to go in at half-time 1-0 up.
After a brief period of pressure from Rovers, Ashton extended their advantage with a 25-yard free-kick by Jake Southern before sealing victory with a Solomon Hultuais goal.
With star man and skipper Fraser Devlin covering every blade of grass, there was no way back for Rovers.
Bradley Stoke Youth won 3-1 at Keynsham Town in an entertaining Division B game.
Josh Morris opened the scoring for Stoke Lane but the home side hit back to level before the break..
Bradley Stoke started the second half in more determined mood and goals from Duval Pierre and Brad Pearce settled the outcome. Tom Fessey was named man of the match.
Yate Rangers defeated Cadbury Heath 8-4 in a thrilling Division B fixture.
The match had it all, with lots of goals, two hat-tricks – one for Heath's star man Powell – and a missed penalty.
Yate took a fifth-minute lead through Dan Burton, only for Heath to bounce straight back with a quickfire equaliser.
A corner from Callum Martin found Nick Thomas in space at the far post to restore Yate's lead but again Heath responded straight away to make it 2-2.
Back came Yate and Harry Webb scored from Joe Wood's corner to take them into half-time 3-2 up.
It got better for them after the break with Burton netting again from a fine through ball by skipper Wood. But Heath were from finished and they roared back to equalise with two quick goals to set up a superb finish.
Yate made three changes in a bid to swing the contest their way and the move paid off. Burton struck twice more to take his tally to four and further goals from Wood and Thomas extended their advantage to 8-4.
Thomas missed the chance to claim a hat-trick from the penalty spot but the job had been done.
In the same division, Whitchurch Sports A clinched another three points with a 4-2 victory over a good Ashton Boys B side.
Whitchurch took the lead when an Ashton defender handled inside the box and Callum Wright confidently converted the spot-kick.
After Whitchurch keeper Lewis Eaves had pulled off a brilliant diving save, and defender Connor Perry had headed off his own line, they doubled their lead with a 30-yard shot from Jacob Sparks which flew over the keeper's head.
Whitchurch extended their advantage early in the second half, Chris French slotting home after another Sparks shot had been parried and Wright hit the fourth with a shot from the edge of the box.
Ashton didn't gave up and hit back with two goals but Whitchurch were worthy winners.
Warmley Rangers made a lively start to their Division A clash with AEK Boco before falling to a 2-1 defeat.
Fraser Venables hit a post from a corner and Sam George went close as the pressure continued. Boco's first effort came 15 minutes into the first half Bradley Wheadon's 25-yard strike just before half-time gave Boco the lead and only a fine save by Warmley goalkeeper Joe Markovitch prevented them from doubling their advantage..
Boco started the second half as they had left the first, on the ascendancy, but they were knocked back when George Kellow equalised.
Warmley maintained the pressure, with Jay Vile going close with a free-kick while a penalty appeal was turned down. But Boco struck the killer blow through Matty Everidge's cracking volley from Jack Green's pinpoint cross and, despite the efforts of Callum Carter, Vile, Venables and Kellow, who shaved the post with a fine attempt, there was no way back for Warmley.
Yate United proved too strong for a battling Winterbourne side, scoring four second-half goals to take all three points with a 5-1 Division A triumph.
Luke Smart gave them an early lead with a good finish following a freekick but Winterbourne settled down well and were rewarded for some enterprising football when Ross Sharpe headed in a Tom Curnock cross to equalise.
Yate dominated the second half and it took a number of good saves from Ben Slade to keep Winterbourne in the game.
It was no surprise, however, when Owen Robertson, Conner Gould and two Billy Wardon goals ensured victory for the rampant visitors.
Goals by Ryan Jacobs, Kyle Salcombe (2), Alfie Sparks and Warren Russell ensured Whitchurch Sports B's Uunbeaten run in Division C was extended to 10 games with a 5-1 win over Bromley Heath.
Louis Bellaera, Jordan Sargent and Gordon Sargent turned in lively performances for Whitchurch, while Jack Trapnell produced some superb saves in the Heath goal to deny the victors more goals.
Mitch Browning's well-taken effort provided Heath with a consolation goal after Whitchurch keeper Sam Franklin had earlier prevented their opponents pulling a goal back by saving a penalty.
