Owners think Cheltenham Road toilet conversion would be a crepe success
THIS is how disused public toilets in Cheltenham Road could look if they were converted into a creperie.
Revised plans to bring the public conveniences next to the railway arches back into use have been submitted to Bristol City Council.

The disused loos in Cheltenham Road, above, could be turned into a creperie with a flat, left, if the owners win planning approval
The firm behind the proposals, Cardiff-based Embark Planning & Design, says several changes have been made to the scheme after two earlier sets of plans for the site were rejected by the authority.
Mehdi Rezaie, one of the company's directors, said there had been broad support from other shopkeepers for the latest plans to convert the ground-floor of the building into a creperie and create a two-bedroom flat on the first floor.
He said the owner of the building – bought seven years ago – was a franchisee for an American creperie company called La Bella Crepe.
Mr Rezaie said his client wanted to bring the chain, which started in Minneapolis, to the UK by opening an outlet in Bristol.
Under the plans, the entrance to the creperie would be in Cheltenham Road alongside neighbouring shop fronts.
Mr Rezaie said 20 nearby businesses were in favour of the conversion of the loos into a creperie, which he described as a "niche market" for the area.
The planning consultant said the flat above the creperie could end up accommodating the manager of the shop, which will employ four people.
The revised plans involve setting the building back 1.4m from the railway bridge, rather than the 50cm proposed in an earlier application.
Mr Rezaie said there would be more detailing around the windows to create a bigger architectural impact, a grander entrance and CCTV cameras fitted.
He said: "I want this to be a grand design and a grand building.
"Our client wants to introduce a creperie in Bristol.
"There are lots in London but very few in Bristol."
Previous plans to convert the single-storey toilet block into a takeaway and a flat were refused in September 2010. Earlier plans for a takeaway and two-bedroom maisonette were turned down in March 2010.
The earlier application was rejected because the council ruled there were too many food and drink outlets in the immediate area and that the two-storey extension would be an "over dominant addition" to the existing building, obscuring the distinctive Severn Beach line railway bridge.
The public toilets have been closed for more than ten years and have been targeted by graffiti vandals in recent years.

“@brandlogo ~ you asked for this!
I think that the place is very expensive, you would be potty splashing out on something like this, you would certainly have to be pretty flushed to afford it. The brochure says a very large deposit would be needed, I saw a similar design creperie in France (Toulouse) and as they say in France "C'est la vie".”

“"Make a 3rd floor (that's another storey)..."
A classic example of mission-crepe, perhaps?”

“"Creperie" does sound rather like the way a South-African might describe a toilet.”
