ONE of three missing dogs, stolen during a burglary in Barrow Gurney, has been reunited with its owners.

The black and white male lurcher was taken in by a family who found him wandering the streets near Frenchay Hospital in a poor condition.

They took him to a vet and the dog's microchip meant he could be returned to his owners.

Two dogs are still missing after the theft, which took place overnight between December 6 and 7 from kennels in Felton on the A38, not far south of the junction with Dial Lane.

Owner Sophia Wiltshire, 29, was delighted to be reunited with Bear, a three-year-old black and white lurcher cross.

She told The Post: "We were so happy to see him again – but it was a mixture of emotions because of the state he was in.

"He was half his original body weight – which had dropped from 42kg to 26kg – and has lots of sores and scratches all over his body."

The other two dogs still missing are Yogi, a three-year-old white and tan Jack Russell/fox terrier cross breed and Peggy, a six-year-old greyish-coloured whippet/lurcher bitch.

Anyone who has seen the other dogs should call the police on 101.

“Oh I'm so glad you got one of them back, Felton to Frenchay is quite some distance, the poor thing.

I hope the other two are also found soon.”

“That's good news, I recall the original story and was doubtful any of the dogs would be found.

A good story to start the weekend.”
