Outsiders can't talk about animal welfare
THIRTEEN angry men will pose no problem to the vast majority of British citizens who will never endorse the reintroduction of a law that permits the cruel and barbaric persecution of its animals.
In the past, Britain has led the way by setting a precedent to law and order throughout the world, upholding standards that the rest of world in time has adopted.
Some countries have taken much longer, but eventually they have followed suit.
The Canadian government still subsidises the inhumane clubbing and killing of thousands of fur seal cubs each year turning their habitat red with their blood.
France and Belgium permit the slaughter of millions of songbirds. Australia is slowly annihilating the kangaroo.
The USA has a gun law and killing culture that few countries would want to emulate.
With respect, may I suggest that these 13 men go back to their own countries and put their own house in order.
Do they really think that signing their names on a piece of useless paper will influence the outcome of British law and order?
Or do they think that the British public will be led by the nose and endorse a law passed by a huge majority decision to outlaw hunting?
We still have a long way to go before all barbaric practices are truly behind us, but as with bull-baiting, cock-fighting, dog- fighting and all other cruel sports of yesteryear, it will become a thing of the past.
Future generations will look back in horror at what man once did to animals throughout the world.
That time will come. The sooner the better.
