Yeovil Town's Paul Warne reckons Leyton Orient will prove a tougher test than Southend or Huddersfield – and it has nothing to do with David Beckham.

The former England captain has been tenuously linked with a takeover of the east London club.

But it is Orient's much-improved recent form that worries Warne – not the possible boost the team will get from being associated with a takeover by Beckham's agent, former England physio Terry Byrne.

Yeovil head to Brisbane Road on the back of successive wins against Southend and Huddersfield – two sides with promotion aspirations.

But striker Warne rates in-form Orient as the more difficult proposition of the three.

"I didn't rate Southend when we went there," said Warne. "Even after a few minutes I didn't think they were the best. They looked nervy and although they were higher in the league than us they had been on a bad run of results so I would be more fearful of going to Leyton Orient than Southend.

"In the same way Huddersfield are a good team but I thought that them coming down here on a Tuesday night when the pitch is wrecked was a good game for us.

"I know the conditions are the same for both teams but man for man, I hate to say it, they are a better squad than us.

"Sometimes, although you are playing a higher opposition, it doesn't make it a harder game. I think Leyton Orient is the toughest of the three games."

Orient recently sacked manager Martin Ling and replaced him with youth team chief Kevin Nugent as caretaker manager.

"That always gives the team a boost, as sick as that sounds, because a dark cloud goes away and you always have a honeymoon period," said Warne.

"They have had one because they have had a couple of decent results.

"I expect them to come out of the blocks and try to score early but the way the lads have been playing at the back I am more than confident we will be OK."

Yeovil's victory over Huddersfield came courtesy of a debut goal by on-loan Swansea City midfielder Shaun MacDonald.

Warne watched from the bench on Tuesday night and was impressed by the youngster, who had only arrived at the club a few hours before.

"If you come in on a Monday and train all week for a Saturday you can get a bit anxious," said Warne.

"But if you don't meet anyone you are fearless and you have no expectations.

"I really liked Shaun. You could tell he had come from a good club with a good manager by the way he played his football.

"If I was a manager that is how I would want midfielders to be. He was comfortable on the ball, quite athletic and not afraid to tackle."

Derby County striker Aleksander Prijovic also made his debut against Huddersfield as Warne was struggling with a knee injury.

"No one wants to play on that pitch but I thought he did alright," said Warne. "He is a big lad who puts himself about a bit and obviously he is a bit raw, but most kids are."

Warne came on for the final half hour against Huddersfield and should be fit to make the bench again today.
