Open-air pool at capacity as the sun beats down
PORTISHEAD'S Open Air Pool had its busiest weekend of the season so far – with crowds flocking to the lido as temperatures soared to the mid-20s.
About 1,200 people went through the turnstiles on Saturday and even more visited yesterday.

Pool trustees estimated 3,000 people enjoyed a dip at the lido over the weekend, enjoying water temperatures of 28 degrees.
People started queuing outside the pool from 8.30am on Saturday and Sunday to ensure they bagged a good spot on the sun terraces.

The good weather – due to continue this week – has come as a welcome boost to the trust which was forced to reduce opening hours at the lido earlier this month because of heavy rain and high winds.
People travelled from South Wales, Bath and Bristol for a dip.
Pool trustee Andy Thatcher said: "The weekend was fabulous – the best and busiest of the season so far.
"We have been at capacity at times over the weekend and everyone has been having a great time and making the most of the good weather.
"We very much hope the good weather will continue and the pool can enjoy a bumper season."
According to the Met Office, Bristol is expected to bask in more sunshine and temperatures of up to 23ºC today and Tuesday, with temperatures remaining high as light rain falls as showers on Wednesday and Thursday.

“friend went to this fantastic facility on Monday to enjoy the sunshine. Despite being virtually the first person through the door that day they found the pool surrounds hadn't been cleaned, seemingly from the day before, they also found what appeared to be a thin layer of dirt on the pool surface. This detracted from what should be a great experience, fun for all to enjoy, its very good value, glorious in the sunshine, the lido kitchen is excellent lets just get the basics right.”
