Olympic heroes set to inspire with city visit
AT least three Olympic and Paralympic athletes are set to share the secrets of their success with Bristol audiences.
Gold medallist and rower Sophie Hosking, silver medallist and rower Richard Chambers, and bronze medal hockey player Alex Danson will all travel to Bristol on Tuesday, October 9.
The trio are set to attend a question and answer session at St George's Bristol, followed by a social event at The Living Room.
And organisers for the event, titled Meet The Medallists, say more athletes could still be involved if the city is prepared to support them.

David Cotton, event organiser, said: "Our event budget means we have three athletes confirmed but I'd love to see more join in this event.
"We've just seen the support given to the winner's parade through London and now Bristol has the chance to own their own piece of the Games. In a similar way the torch relay captured people's imaginations this could be something really huge for the city."
Part of the celebrations means that Bristol businesses and corporate organisations can pay sponsorship to 'adopt an athlete'. The funding pays for one of a group of medallists from Team GB to be part of the party.
Mr Cotton, who has organised similar events across the West Country, said: "This is not just a corporate thing – the sponsorship that could benefit the whole community. There are three parts to this unique day. During the first part of the day the athlete would go into a local school, of the sponsors choosing, to inspire children. The second part sees athletes go into their sponsor's company and engage with their own clients and staff."
The Meet the Medallists event, which will take place from 6pm to 8pm, costs £15 and will also give audience goers and sponsors a chance to have their photo taken with the athletes on an Olympic-style podium.
The Living Room event, which costs £10, will take place from 7pm and also includes photograph opportunities.
Sophie Hoskin, a former Wimbledon FC and AFC Wimbledon footballer, won the gold medal for the 2012 Olympics lightweight double sculls, along with Kat Copeland.
Richard Chambers, who began rowing at the age of 14, was part of the lightweight men's four. Along with Chris Bartley, Rob Williams and Peter Chambers the team won silver at the games.
Hockey player Alex Danson was in the women's team who took bronze at the games. Alex was a member of the England and Great Britain women's field hockey team since making her England debut in October 2001 against Germany.
Mr Cotton said the cost of sponsorship for a firm would be around £5,000 but could alter if businesses wanted to bring a particular athlete to the city.
