"I'm really pleased to help celebrate the re-launch of Nuffield Health, Fitness & Wellbeing, Bristol," he said. "I've been attending the centre for a long time because it offers me the highest quality services and expert support I need.

"The team are helpful and friendly, which makes training in the centre a great experience overall."

In his third Olympics last summer, Mr Godfrey lost to Malaysian Khairul Anuar Mohamad in a one-arrow shoot off.

The unveiling of the new-look centre coincided with the launch of Nuffield's new wellbeing membership, designed to help people achieve specific health and fitness goals. HealthScore has also been introduced - the new motivational fitness and lifestyle tool, available on-line and as a smartphone application.

Nuffield Bristol now has a refurbished swimming pool; a new spin studio, gym equipment and reception desk; and much of the club has been redecorated.

General manager Emily Tuck said: "My team and I are really proud of the refurbishments completed at the club and thank everyone who came along and helped us celebrate.

"We are particularly grateful to Larry, who took time out of his busy schedule to speak to visitors and answer the many questions thrown at him.

"Most importantly, this launch has enabled us to focus on new initiatives such as our health mentors and HealthScore, which signify the future of Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing centres and our goal to provide joined-up health and wellbeing care and support through pro-active services."
