Old Redcliffians have signalled their intentions to rejoin Bristol's rugby hierarchy by snapping up former Bristol Rugby and Scotland scrum-half Graeme Beveridge as their player-coach for next season.

The Brislington-based side have targeted successive promotions and hope to be in South West One by 2011.

Beveridge, who was capped six times by Scotland, was released by Bristol by mutual consent last month.

Reds chairman Ray Massey said: "Graeme has signed as a player-coach for next season. He's here for the long haul – and during that time he wants to get us up two leagues.

"We want to progress and emulate teams like Avonmouth, but our aim is to get to South West One.

"We have looked around the area and we have former players playing in South West One or for Dings and Bridgwater in National Division Three South.

"Our standard of rugby at the moment is not good enough to keep these players."

In South West Two West, strugglers St Mary's Old Boys have injury concerns ahead of their home clash with Sidmouth.
