Old Bristolians take a step closer to title
GLOUCESTERSHIRE LEAGUES: Old Bristolians took a huge step towards the Gloucester One title with a commanding 34-5 win over nearest rivals Painswick.
A second-minute try from flanker Jonny Biggins set the tone for Bristolians, who stretched further clear with a Simon Hawkins penalty and then a close-range score from prop Nick Cussen.
An attack from deep led to centre Ben Bagnell being tackled short before offloading to lock Chris Beaves for a converted try that made it 20-0 at the turnaround.
There were further scores after the break from winger Steve Forster and stand-in skipper, hooker Jon Whiteman, both converted by Hawkins.
Bishopston made light of severe injury problems to record a 3-0 victory at Cheltenham Saracens, Phil Cottis breaking the deadlock and securing the points with a first-half penalty.
Whitehall moved up to fifth in Gloucester Premier with a 50-0 win away at bottom side Spartans.
Ashley Honeywell scored 20 points thanks to two tries and five conversions, while there were also scores for Rob Ford, Dean Weaver, Luke Colton and Dan Hart.
Two tries from centre David Wright could not save Bristol Saracens from a 25-12 reverse at Old Richians.
