Nottingham Forest leading bidding war for Bristol City's Dele Adebola
Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws has revealed that Bristol City striker Dele Adebola has become the subject of a bidding war.
The Owls were leading the chase to land out-of-contract targetman Adebola – but Laws yesterday confirmed they were pulling out of the race for his signature because they were not interested in getting involved in an auction for the striker's services.

Nottingham Forest, who made a play to lure Adebola away from Ashton Gate with a formal bid during the January transfer window, now look favourites to claim his signature.
"Adebola has been offered huge sums to stay in the Championship," Laws said.
"That's something we don't want to get into and that's something we have dropped at this present time."
Adebola, 34, has also been offered a deal to stay at Ashton Gate, but talks have ended in stalemate over the length of the deal.
Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown confirmed last week the club's offer of a one-year deal will not be improved – but Forest boss Billy Davies is understood to be prepared to table a two-year contract to meet Adebola's demands.
QPR have also been linked with a move for the striker – but reports in the London media last week speculated that they were close to pulling out of the race over a reluctance to offer a two-year deal.

“To be fair, Steve, Clifton, he may have only scored 11 times, but he makes a big difference to our play whenever he's on the pitch. And we really have no one else of the same ilk. That said, I'd give him another season, but if he's adamant on a 2-year deal, then I think City are right to cut their losses. Any guesses on replacements?”

“So we have learned that Forest believe they have marginally less debt problems than Wednesday.
Move on - any news about City as opposed to ex-City players?”

“Red, Bristol have you got access to the Forest account books. I can assure that Forest don't spend big wages on good players never mind average 1's.
Rob Earnshaw is our highest paid player by a considerable margin on £12k the next best is a few lads on £5k. so don't get bitter cos Dele is leaving.
Truth be known not many Forest fans will welcome this signing if it happens.”

“I dont understand this.
If he is under contract with City until 1st July or whatever the date is, why can't we just pay it up and release him now? I don't want this Adebola cloud over us all summer with all this 'will he / won't he'. If he can get a better contract elsewhere good luck to him. I think the real issue now should be some news on some replacements! Get sniffing Evening Post!”

“I wish he'd just go now, it's obvious he's not staying. Forest are spending big on average players, would love it if they got relegated..love it!”
