North Somerset Cricket League: Grove family do the business for Brislington
The Grove Family had a great weekend for Brislington.
Hugh Grove took 5-21 and hit 25, while son Reece scored 38, as Brislington recorded their first win in the Sunday Premier League – a four-wicket victory over Chew Magna.
Keynsham and Midsomer Norton are the early front-runners. Both won away with a centurion in their ranks.
Keynsham beat Knowle by 20 runs with Graham Williams making 115.
Midsomer Norton's centurion was Martin Cox, his fine 106 and four wickets helped secure a 78-run victory at Hinton Charterhouse.
The 17-year-old Ryan Thorpe scored 102 for Claverham in their 121-run victory at home to Easton Cowboys 2nds in Division Four.
The Cowboys' Matthew Kelly took 5-46.
Saltford Fairway 2nds beat Shepton Mallet by nine wickets after dismissing them for just 78 in Division Four South & East.
Despite Alex Williams hitting the first century of the Saturday Conference season, newly-promoted Old Park went down by five wickets to Midsomer Norton Methodists in Division Four.
Daniel Shearn was the pick of the Methodists bowlers with an admirable return of 3-17.
Newly-promoted Weston-super-Mare 3rds' Division Two title hopes were given an early boost after a 104-run victory at Exiles (Bath).
Batting first, The Seagulls amassed an impressive 238-7 with Jason Lane hitting 49.
In reply, Exiles were never in the hunt after being reduced to 31-3 with two wickets falling to Weston's promising young opening bowler Tom Court . Matt Humphrey and Stuart Roberts then ran through the middle and lower order.
Whitchurch thrashed Stanton Drew by 10 wickets in the A37 derby.
Drew were dismissed for just 109 as Craig Brown took 5-25. There were also three wickets for Ben Lewis. Whitchurch cruised to victory as Martin Peters smashed 80 not out.
