Newman in line
CENTRE-HALF Aston Newman is eyeing his Tytherington Rocks bow at home to Old Woodstock Town tomorrow.
The University of Gloucestershire student names Yate Town and Mangotsfield United among his former clubs, and manager Gary Powell believes his latest recruit has the pedigree to boost Rocks' Division One West challenge this season.
Powell, who can also recall centre-forward Alex Chapman, said: "Although Aston was part of our squad that lost to Fairford last weekend, he didn't get on. I'm optimistic he'll prove a good acquisition; he's got a good football brain and he wins tackles and I'm looking to give him a first start. Our performances have been good and we really should have won more games than we have."
