A NEW arts complex has opened in Kingswood.

The newly refurbished Studio 5 complex, on the Kingswood Foundation Estate in Britannia Road, was officially opened by Councillor Roger Coales.

The new space will provide a range of arts-based activities for young people in Bristol and South Gloucestershire through projects such as Arts4Life, Urban Academy and the award-winning Youth4Youth.

Thanks to funding from the Social Enterprise Investment Fund, South Gloucestershire Council and a grant from the Lankelly Chase Trust, youth organisation the Kingswood Foundation has been able to convert an old swimming pool into the complex.

It now consists of a large studio and performance space, a student lounge and chill out area, a computer room and office, a small seminar room, a disabled toilet, a new kitchen area and storage.
